Welcome to our online volunteer system where you can find the information you need to sign up for one of our many build days. At the moment, we are building in Hartford and New Britain - so we have plenty to do!
Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing.
Volunteers like you provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Since 1989 and with the hard work and dedication of our volunteers, homeowners and staff we have completed over 150 homes! The growth in our building program has been a blessing for our Habitat homeowners and our community. You can help our mission to provide simple, decent housing to our families in many ways.
Please take a minute to go over our Habitat Key Points (.pdf - needs Acrobat Reader to open!). It has very important information that will help you get ready for your build day! Also, you need to print and complete the Volunteer Waiver form (.pdf - needs Acrobat Reader to open!). Note: ALL VOLUNTEERS are required to bring the Waiver form before they can start any construction work on your build day.
At the moment, only scheduled volunteers are allowed at the sites. The Construction Staff reserves the right to dismiss anyone who has not been scheduled through the office. Weather cancellations are rare but do occur! Check the listings on NBC30 or check our website after 7:00 am to see if we have cancelled the work day due to inclement weather.
